Welcome to Cowiche Canyon Conservancy—escape to tree-shrouded streams, sage-dotted slopes, dramatic cliffs and abundant wildlife. We are a land trust originally founded in 1985 to preserve Cowiche Canyon, a treasure trove of the natural world in south Central Washington. Located just west of Yakima, Cowiche Canyon Conservancy owns and manages 5,000 acres and offers close to 30 miles of trails through sage and grasslands, flowering meadows, oak woodlands, and basalt cliffs. Cowiche Creek flows through our ownerships, replete with salmon, beavers, crayfish, great blue herons, and myriad other wildlife drawn to water in our arid lands.
